Memorial Stamp
A new funeral ritual for today: pressed to the ground, it leaves a trace for someone gone.
This project moves commemoration out of the cemetery and into daily life.
A grave holds a name in one fixed place, far from daily life.
This object asks what happens once that memory no longer needs a place at all, once it can happen anywhere, at any time.
Unlike stone, memory requires effort to be sustained. This stamp turns that effort into a gesture: pressed into sand, snow, or earth, wherever you are.
There is an old saying: when someone disappears, a library disappears with them. Sized like a book, this stamp can be kept exactly there, slipped onto a shelf between other volumes.
