the last fisherman of Mumbai
As part of the St+Art Mumbai 2017 Urban Art Festival, I contributed to The Last Fisherman of Bombay—a site-specific installation inside a 142-year-old abandoned warehouse at Sassoon Docks, Mumbai’s first wet dock.
Created with Quicksand and a multidisciplinary team, the project imagined a dystopian future where manual fishing is obsolete, and replaced by automated technology.
Blending storytelling, sculpture, and immersive experience, the installation was a critique of rapid urbanization and disappearing traditions.
My sculpture, inspired by a fishing drone, stood as a mechanical vision of this future, observed from a submerged UV-lit room evoking a radioactive wasteland.
A zine expanded the narrative, allowing visitors to reflect beyond the space.
