Khadi

Inspired by the Khadi, the traditional Indian cotton spinning wheel symbolizing self-sustenance and independence, this project reimagined its essence in a world increasingly distanced from handmade creation.

As part of Mozfest 2017, Babitha George and Romit Raj explored the role of “hand-powered” craftsmanship in the digital era. Building on their vision, I designed and handcrafted a drawing Khadi, allowing visitors to create unique postcards—physical traces of an idea in an age of automation.

A poetic nod to the past, the installation encouraged a return to tactile, personal making in a rapidly virtualizing world.
